DELE A1 listening task 2: Messages and announcements

Comprensión auditiva, tarea 2

Match five short messages to five of eight pictures.

Part of the 25-minute listening test: 25 questions, 25 points, in group 2 with speaking. Every correct answer counts the same, and a wrong answer costs nothing.

En la estación de tren

Usted va a escuchar cinco mensajes en una estación de tren. Relacione los mensajes (1-5) con las imágenes (A-H). Hay tres imágenes que no debe seleccionar.

  • 1 D Un tren en el andén cuatro

    The announcement tells passengers that the Valencia train leaves from platform four: sale en cinco minutos del andén cuatro. En cinco minutos says when, but the message is about the train and its platform, so the clock in H does not fit.

  • 2 F Una taquilla de billetes con una empleada

    The ticket machine is broken (esta máquina de billetes no funciona), and the employee sends the woman to the ticket office: Puede comprar su billete en la taquilla. In B someone buys a ticket from a machine, which is what this message says she cannot do.

  • 3 E Un cartel de prohibido fumar

    The message says smoking is not allowed in the station or on the trains: está prohibido fumar. That is the no-smoking sign in E.

  • 4 C Una maleta negra en un andén

    Someone has left a black suitcase on platform two (Hay una maleta negra en el andén dos), and its owner can collect it at the information office. The café only says where the suitcase is (al lado de la cafetería), so A does not fit.

  • 5 G La puerta de los servicios

    The employee tells someone where the toilets are: los servicios no están aquí. Están al final del andén uno. G shows the door of the toilets.

What DELE A1 listening task 2 tests

The official guide describes very short messages and notices from public places, given in person or over a loudspeaker. It tests whether you can catch the general idea of such messages when they are spoken slowly and clearly. Each message is played twice, and there are more pictures than messages, so some pictures are never used.

Common traps

  1. A landmark is not the subject. In Las toallas están al lado de la ducha, the towels are the point of the message, and a picture of the shower is the trap.
  2. After no funciona or está cerrado, keep listening. In La puerta uno está cerrada. Entren por la puerta tres, the message sends people to door three.
  3. The pictures in one set can all come from the same place, such as a beach or a hospital, so the setting alone never decides between them.
