Hello Ana
Yo en playa Málaga. Muy sol, muy bonito. Hotel grande, piscina. Yo comer pescado, beber cerveza. Mañana yo ir museo Picasso maybe.
Bye
25 palabras, por debajo de las 30 a 40 que pide la tarea. Most ideas are strings of nouns with no verb or with the verb in the infinitive, so the message ends early.
Banda 1 Escala holística, 100 % de la tarea
Band 1 on the task 2 scale describes a message that comes close to the task but gives only some information, too little to get the messages across, in loose words or disconnected statements with many errors and words from other languages, under the word range and with more than one point left out or misread. Ana learns where the writer is (Yo en playa Málaga) and a little about the hotel, but never who the writer is with. What the writer does each day is unclear: Yo comer pescado, beber cerveza has its verbs in the infinitive, and Mañana yo ir museo Picasso maybe is a plan for tomorrow. The greeting and the goodbye are in English (Hello, Bye), and so is maybe. Ana can guess most of it, but she has to piece it together.
La calificación ponderada es 1,00 sobre 3. La tarea 2 vale 12,50 de los 25 puntos de la prueba, así que esta respuesta obtiene 4,17.
Hola Julia,
Estoy en Benidorm. Es muy bonito y hace calor. Cada día yo voy a la playa y yo como paella. La paella es muy bueno. Por la noche yo bailo en la discoteca.
Hasta pronto

Banda 2 Escala holística, 100 % de la tarea
Band 2 on the task 2 scale describes a simple message that is enough for the task: the information comes across in spite of errors, in words, phrases, short sentences or memorised patterns, inside the word range, with one guideline point left out or misread. Ewa greets Julia, says where she is (Estoy en Benidorm), says what she does each day and signs off, but she never says who she is with, so one point is missing. Her short sentences rest on set patterns such as Es muy bonito and hace calor. Yo comes before each verb of her routine (yo voy, yo como, yo bailo), where Spanish normally leaves it out, La paella es muy bueno needs buena, and the greeting ends with a comma where Spanish uses a colon. None of these errors stops Julia understanding the message.
La calificación ponderada es 2,00 sobre 3. La tarea 2 vale 12,50 de los 25 puntos de la prueba, así que esta respuesta obtiene 8,33.
¡Hola, Lucía!
Estoy en Peñiscola con mi novio y su hermana. El hotel está al lado del mar. Por la mañana nadamos y tomamos el sol, y por la tarde paseamos por el castillo. ¡Es precioso!
Un abrazo,
Hanna

Banda 3 Escala holística, 100 % de la tarea
Band 3 on the task 2 scale describes a message that does more than the task needs: its answers are built more fully than strictly necessary, with details added, and the writer has enough language to express herself with some effectiveness, in simple sentences that make a cohesive text despite some errors. Hanna covers every point. Estoy en Peñiscola con mi novio y su hermana gives the place and the company in one sentence, and Por la mañana nadamos y tomamos el sol, y por la tarde paseamos por el castillo gives the daily routine, ordered by the time of day. She adds details nobody asked for, the hotel al lado del mar and her opinion of the castle, ¡Es precioso! The one error is the missing accent in Peñiscola (Peñíscola). The greeting and the goodbye suit a friend.
La calificación ponderada es 3,00 sobre 3. La tarea 2 vale 12,50 de los 25 puntos de la prueba, así que esta respuesta obtiene 12,50.
The official guide asks for a postcard, email, message or short letter written in reply to a text, which can be a postcard, an email, a message, a short letter, an advert or a notice, with guidelines to follow. It tests whether you can exchange courtesy messages and simple, basic personal information about immediate needs in writing.
The holistic scale for this task describes band 2 as a message whose simple content does the job, gets the information across despite errors, and may leave out or misread one guideline point. In the guide’s band 2 sample, the writer greets and thanks with Buenos días and Muchas gracias, formulas the raters accept although they are not quite right for a letter.
The lesson on writing task 2 gives the full method, when to write tú and when usted, and a worked message. The official model exam for this task is listed on the A1 model exams page.
¡Hola! El sábado hago una cena en mi casa para celebrar mi nuevo trabajo. Empieza a las nueve. ¿Puedes venir? Un beso, Laura
Escriba un mensaje a Laura. En el mensaje tiene que:
¡Hola, Laura!
Muchas gracias por la invitación y enhorabuena por tu trabajo. Sí, voy a ir a la cena con mi novio. Yo llevo el postre: una tarta de chocolate. ¡Hasta el sábado!
Un beso,
Paula
The message covers the five points in order, each in a short sentence, with greeting and farewell formulas that suit a friend. It adds two small details (enhorabuena por tu trabajo, una tarta de chocolate) that show more than the bare minimum, which band 3 describes, and stays within the word range.
